SIEMCALSA is a SME created in 1988 by an initiative of the regional government of Castilla y León with the aim to promote the mining activity in the region. Regular works of the company are the research and exploration of mining resources and the generation of sector studies and technical reports, mostly for the regional administration (General Directorate for Energy and Mining). These activities have provided SIEMCALSA a wide knowledge of the regional geology, mineral deposits, mining companies and both mining and environmental administrative procedures related with the mining projects development. SIEMCALSA usually collaborates in its projects with research and academic organizations (spanish geological survey, universities, etc.), but also works together with European partners in the commitments in which the company is involved.
