The proceedings and presentations from the third OECD meeting of mining regions and cities are now available. The meeting in June 2019 was convened by the OECD's centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities along with two Swedish regions Västerbotten and Norrbotten. 170 people from 25 countries attended the meeting in Skelleftea, Sweden, allowing for a productive knowledge exchange on the two main questions:
- How mining regions can harness opportunities from the sustainable energy transition and ensure environmental sustainability for current and future generations.
- How mining activities can be a driver of improved regional well-being and how mining regions can link different measures to enhance attractiveness.
The proceedings from the event are attached to this story and the presentations can be found here. Details about the next OECD meeting of mining regions of citites in Karratha, Australia will be published soon.
