MIREU kicks off!

  • Wed, 10/01/2018

The MIREU Consortium gathered in Espoo, Finland, on 9-10 January 2018 for the Kick-off Meeting of the project. More than 50 participants from 14 different countries came together at the GTK (The Geological Survey of Finland) premises to kick off the project that will go on for the next three years.

The meeting started with a welcome speech by the Director for Science and Innovations at GTK, which is the coordinating institution of the project, followed by some words and advice by EASME, the Ministry of Employment and the Economy of Finland, the Lapland Regional Council, and DG GROW. The MIREU Consortium will throughout the project work closely with several other EU projects on mining, and therefore some of these projects presented themselves and their experiences, namely REMIX, ORAMA, SCRREEN and Minland. The first day of the meeting culminated with a short presentation of each partner and the expertise that they will bring to the project. Day two was dedicated to a review of the work packages, where the work package leaders presented their work packages.

The meeting was a great opportunity for the partners to come together and get a comprehensive overview of the MIREU project, as well as identifying upcoming challenges and opportunities for the project and the work packages.
